New year resolutions??? Who came up with this idea in the first place?
I don't write down New Year's resolutions because I've never ever managed to keep up with the long list. It's just setting myself up for disappointment. And there is usually a lot of pressure on oneself not forgetting unrealistic expectations and you know what results from this; frustration and disappointments if expectations are not realized. Most times i have noticed that many New Year's resolutions never work, so i really don't bother making them. May be i am wrong, but for now New year resolutions are not my thing.
This obviously doesn't imply that i dislike the idea of self examination,
self-improvement or resolving to be a better person. This is totally a great idea. I love a genuine, sincere New Year’s resolution. It is very important that a person sets goals in life.
What i don't understand is why making/writing New year resolutions such a big deal. For the first weeks of a new year, many conversations involve New year resolutions. I was asked, " Rhona, did u make resolutions for this year?" I don't have a straight answer for this. I will take each day as it comes. I will try to be a better person in all aspects but i am not going to put my self under pressure in an attempt to keep up with resolutions i set up. No way!
